This DVD contains the actual, uncut 16mm color home movie footage that was filmed by an officer during the Korean War. He also filmed most if not all of the officers who were aboard at the time.
Great scenes of the deck throughout.
Scenes while she was in dry dock.
Scenes while in heavy seas. This baby really pitches and rolls!!
A great sequence of a HOS3-1 helicopter landing up on the bow. Great footage of a vintage helicopter.
Some scenes of the USS Antietam (CVA-36) pier side.
Footage of the evacuation of Korean Refugees from Sok-To. You will see a lot of ice both in the water as the ship approached the beach, and then all over the beach. Obviously a brutal climate. This segment was filmed in black and white.
Scenes of the ship grounded in Kunsan Harbor, drying out.
Change of command ceremony, when LT Jones relieved LCDR Marty.
This is very unique and interesting footage of a seldom seen aspect of the Korean War, from the eyes of an LST.
