This DVD contains the U.S. Navy produced film "The Battle of Midway".
Unedited footage of the Midway Battle, showing the carnage wrought on Midway Island.
The film begins with this: "This is the actual photographic report of the Battle of Midway. IN the number of surface and aircraft destroyed, it is the greatest naval victory of the world to date. The following authentic scenes were made by U.S. Navy Photographers."
A very patriotic film with lots of patriotic themes and music.
For me, this film really hits home at the end, as it chronicles the search and rescue efforts of the American aviators who were shot down. Some were still being rescued TWO WEEKS after the battle. But the part that really got me was the long line of Navy vessels, all conducting burials at sea. We have all seen the Hollywood movie "Midway", but you need to see this to appreciate and understand the battle.
A great WWII film. It is also in color, which makes even more amazing.
The footage has not been edited. It has been left exactly as it was captured from the 16mm film.
